Class AK – FS1

Welcome to FS 1!

Hello! I am Ms Anne, I am so excited and thrilled to be teaching your children, the youngest learners in our school. I consider FS 1 to be a rite of passage for all children. It’s going to be a fantastic, fun year, filled with lots of learning and new adventures. I believe that all of us have the chance to learn something new everyday. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for us this year.

This page will include information on our weekly planning and our learning journey. Some of the themes we will cover during the course of the year will include Magical Me, Celebrations, Transport, Occupations, Amazing Animals, Around the World, Nursery Rhymes, Traditional Tales and Ramadan. We call them planning intentions as our planning can change based on the children’s needs and interests.

To many happy days…

Term 3: Around the World, Nursery Rhymes, Ramadan, Traditional tales and Prince & Princess stories

Welcome back, everyone! Hope you had a fabulous spring break. We’re in our last term for the year. Here’s to a great summer term ahead!

Some highlights to look forward to:

We will begin this term learning all about the countries we come from with Around the World, we will continue from where we left off before the holiday. We will be learning about the different countries that we come from. We will look at presentations from around the world representing the children in our class: flags, food, animals, traditions, languages from around the world. The children will also get to work on a fun project, their very own multicultural doll. We will finish this theme with an Around the World Hat Parade.

The children will have the opportunity to explore rhythm and rhyme with Nursery Rhymes, creating rhyming strings, silly soup and even make up their own rhymes. During Ramadan, we will look at different Ramadan stories and phases of the moon with a fun oreo biscuit activity. The children will also create fantastic Ramadan artwork, which will be auctioned off to a worthy charity.

Jack and the Beanstalk is going to be our traditional tale story focus, the children will plant their very own beanstalks to understand growing, plants and the world around us. With Prince and Princess stories, we will explore story settings, principal characters, story sequencing and alternate story endings. The children will attempt making rebus stories, (picture stories) where we will focus on making sentences, moving from left to right and top to bottom. We will finish the theme with our Prince and Princess Ball.

Through all of this, we will also include ideas and input from the children which will steer and change our learning experience, so there’s all this and more to follow, watch this space everyone………
